About Leek

I discovered geocaching quite by accident in August 2002 while searching the web for something completely different... (Lane Cove)

I saw the word geocache pop up and being a curious type decided to investigate...
It looked very interesting, and seemed a good way of keeping both body and mind active, so I decided to pursue it...

I bought my GPSr the very next day (a bright yellow Magellan Meridian GPS) and the rest is history...

Probably my most satisfying geocaching moment so far!

Why Leek?

About LeekI am Welsh by birth, and the leek is used quite extensively as a National emblem of Wales... It is also a favourite emblem of Welsh Rugby Union supporters ( as pictured left ) - some say that it gives them an excuse to cry when Wales lose!!!

I was prompted for a user-id by geocaching.com and for some reason Leek popped into my head... Possibly with more time, I may have thought of something better, but I quite like it now...

As I said, I was born in Wales, but left that fine country when I was 18. Since then I have lived in and near London, Rotterdam (NL) and Sydney, Australia. I appear to have settled here and conduct the majority of my geocaching activities in this great city.

My real name is John by the way...
